I am from Mexico City, Mexico, where I grew up. My parents were chemists, so it was natural for me to get a bachelor's degree in Biological and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Universidad La Salle, Mexico in 2015. I learned organic chemistry and multi-target drug design in my university by joining a multidisciplinary research team led by Dr. Marco Antonio Loza. After completing my studies, I worked in the industry before venturing into my Ph.D. at McGill University, Montreal, where I joined Dr. Gonzalo Cosa’s lab. My current research is focused on using fluorescent probes to study ferroptosis and lipid-derived electrophile metabolism. I enjoy spending my spare time playing video games and drinking hot chocolate. Now and then, I also enjoy some nature-related activities like hiking and stargazing.
